Be the best you can be

Class 2

Welcome to  Class 2

We hope you enjoy finding out about what we are doing this term.

Have you seen the Kids' Zone? Play games, and visit some cool websites. You can vote for your favourites!

Our topic for this term is learning about the author 'Anthony Browne'. During this topic the children will be reading his books and looking carefully at his illustrations. We will doing lots of writing from his books too.

We read the story 'Zoo'. In  this story a family visits a zoo and they are very unkind to the animals. We discussed how the animals would feel and what was wrong with the zoo.

Here are some of the letters of complaint that we wrote to the zoo, with suggestions on how to make the zoo a happier place.

In Maths the Year 3's are learning the 6x table and the Year 2's the 5x table as well as the related division facts. Here are photos of some of the ways they learn their tables:

All children will receive English, Spelling & Maths homework every week.

Maths will be handed out every Tuesday and needs to be back at school the following Monday.

English  will be handed out every Thursday and handed back into school the following Tuesday.

Spellings will be sent home  every Thursday with view to assessing the children the following Friday.

It would be beneficial if all children could read  their reading books at home at least 3 times per week.

Please ensure their reading books are available in school every day.

This is what we did in the Spring Term...

Little Red Riding Hood

R.E. The Bible

We are learning that the Bible is like a library which includes fiction, non-fiction and poetry.

We have learnt about stories in the Old Testament, including 'David and Goliath'.

We have learnt that poems in the Bible are called psalms.

The children wrote their own psalms, based on Psalm 136.

We know that there is Fiction in the Bible because Jesus liked to tell stories. These are called Parables. We have been learning about the story of 'The Lost Sheep'.
