I am particularly interested in promoting the Christian ethos of the school as well as the school giving a rounded education that is not totally results driven. I am particularly interested in the RE teaching at the school and its assemblies as acts of worship.

Why have you chosen to be a Governor at Gamston?

Having two children in the school I was keen to be involved. I attended a smaller school as a child and appreciated the community spirit and individual learning it offered. I wished to help Gamston school keep the excellent reputation it had when we chose it and believe involvement in things that matter to you is the most effective way of retaining them.  I had committee experience and delight in analysing figures, so felt that I could be of help on the governing body. Luckily they felt the same way too and I was appointed. I have found the last two years as a member incredibly rewarding and look forward to helping the school in any way I can

Why have you chosen to be a Governor at Gamston?

Up until 2014 both of my children attended Gamston C of E Primary School and they had a happy and contented 6 years with them always looking forward to school.

Gamston’s traditional motto is ‘a fun place to learn’, more recently the school has adopted a further motto of ‘be the best you can be’. I believe both of these sit side by side and are two of the most important aspects off successful primary education.

I am especially proud of the strong links the school has with the local community and the Parish of Eaton and Gamston. These links support the school in maintaining a strong Christian ethos as well as providing all pupils with strong underpinning in British values.

Although I work full time I am still a familiar face in school. My role as a clinical manager in NHS provides me with a wide skills base, essential for modern school governance.

Why have you chosen to be a Governor at Gamston?

The Minister of the Parish of Eaton-and-Gamston has an ex-officio place on the governing body of the school, so here I am.  Sometimes I think it might be good to be 10 years old again, so I could be a pupil there, too!

Before moving to this area, I have had several educational roles, with learners from different age-groups.  It’s great to see children fulfill their potential through education, gaining self-confidence and an exploration of faith.  Gamston is a good place to do that and I am delighted to be part of it.

I champion all aspects of rural life and village schools like Gamston are a lynch pin in the rural community.   We must provide the best opportunities for children and I am happy to help in the running and development of the school.
