Why have you chosen to be a Governor at Gamston?

 

Having worked at Gamston for six years before becoming a Governor  I felt that I wanted to give something back to the School by becoming the staff Governor and by continuing to build the relationship between staff and Governors to be the best that we can be for the School and Children .

As the EYFS Teacher I wanted to continue to build the profile of the Foundation Stage at Gamston and work closely with other Governors and professionals to ensure high standards are achieved in the Early Years Class at Gamston.

My husband, Richard Vernon, has the maintenance contract for the garden at the front of school as he is self-employed landscape gardener (N.B. he is not an employee of the school).

Why have you chosen to be a Governor at Gamston?

 

I wish to give back to my local community by playing a part in improving the educational performance of the school and its children. As Churchwarden of the Parish of Eaton & Gamston, I also fully support the school’s Christian ethos. I am happy to be able to use the skills that I developed through working in Human Resources, Project Management, administration and Higher Education to benefit the school.

I have always thought that one of the great gifts in life is to have a lifelong joy in learning and this is why I am happy to be a governor of Gamston school. It is a lively, progressive and happy school which challenges its pupils to aim for the highest standards. I champion all aspects of rural life and village schools like Gamston are a lynch pin in the rural community.   We must provide the best opportunities for children and I am happy to help in the running and development of the school.

Why have you chosen to be a Governor at Gamston?

 

 

Having lived in Gamston for the past 10 years I have always held the ideal that it takes a whole community to raise “our children”.

 

In a professional capacity I specialise in Project Planning and Controls, primarily in the Civil Engineering sector. Roles I have held have gained me experience in leadership, recruitment, contracts, project management, finance, data analysis and IT.

 

I care passionately about our primary school and hope that my skills contribute to supporting our excellent staff in ensuring all our children achieve their potential in a stimulating learning environment. Having lived in Gamston for 12 years and having a son who has recently completed his whole primary school journey at Gamston, I felt I wanted to become more involved and give something back to the school, whilst hopefully helping it develop and continue to be an important part of the local community.

Why have you chosen to be a Governor at Gamston?

 

Having had 2 of my children just starting on their journey at Gamston School, and my third son to hopefully join in a couple of years, I really wanted to give something back to the school.

I feel that my previous career as a retail store manager for 12 years, and now my career as an office manager has given me many skills in planning, financial budgeting, HR, and team development.

I can put these many skills into my chosen committees, and hopefully can bring something to the table to ensure that the school continues to 'be the best we can be' in all areas.
