Summer Term 2010
Our Special Mentions celebration happens every Friday afternoon in the school hall. Classes 1, 1H, 2 and 3 and some of our teachers) join us to listen to Canon Woodsford (the retired vicar of St Peter's Church, Gamston) lead the assembly. He sometimes tells us what has happened in the past on that particular date.
All the school stand to sing a hymn. After that Canon Woodsford says a prayer with us.
Two Y5/6 people sit at the front of the hall controlling the CD player. They also give out the award stickers. Canon Woodsford reads out the names of the children who have earned a reward and the reason they've achieved it. We usually start with Class 1 and go all the way up to Class 3.
The children who receive stickers (for being good, helping people, good work etc) come out to the front to get their stickers. Each class also has a Star of the Week. After assembly we all go back to our classrooms. You can download the Special Mentions charts here (Emily C, Class 3):
