Hello and welcome to Hillary Class, we are really looking forward to getting to know you and your child as their learning journey begins at Gamston Primary School. As the Class teacher I will be available before and after School if you have any questions or queries, Mrs Morris is our wonderful full time Nursery Nurse working alongside us too.

Enjoying our outdoor area
We wanted to share some photographs of the super exploring and learning the children in Hillary do in our outdoors area.
The children in Hillary class love spending time in the construction area and we think their constructions are absolutely amazing. Definitely some future builders here!
Today in Hillary Class the children had a super afternoon investigating how to make bubbles and loved blowing them in the sunshine.
Rainbow Fish retelling
For our seaside topic we have been reading The Rainbow Fish. Today Fyfe and Sam re told the story and our fantastic actors acted out the story, we love their facial expressions!
This afternoon in Hillary Class the children planted some lovely summer plants to brighten up our outdoor area. They named the various parts of the plants and spoke about what the plants would need to survive.
Look at the amazing projects that our super children have produced have created at home, for our Seaside topic launch.
Learning outside is a very important part of our of teaching in Hillary Class. Take a look at the wonderful investigating and exploring that takes place in our outdoor classroom.
For our spring topic the children have created some wonderful homes. I wonder which mini beasts we will find living in these?
Look at the amazing, independent constructions that the children in Hillary class have created. Lots of thought and careful planning has gone into these.
Look at the wonderful ponds that the children in Hillary Class have created using construction materials and loose parts. These were created as part of our Spring topic, the children learnt about the life cycle of a frog and the varying stages it goes through they also produced some fantastic writing.
A very big thank you to Fyfe's Mummy for bringing in some cute chicks for the children in Hillary Class to spend time with. The children had a fantastic time and loved holding and stroking the chicks.
Celebrating St George's Day
The children in Hillary Class learnt all about why we celebrate St George's Day and they produced some super flags, dragons and knights.
Spring Chicks and Yummy Treats
Look at the wonderful spring chicks that the children in Hillary Class have created for their spring topic and the delicious cakes too.
A very big thank you to the PFA for very kindly buying us a super Gruffalo and Handa's Surprise puppet set, the children in Hillary Class have loved acting out the story and been incredibly creative with their acting skills!
Red Nose Day
Hillary Class had a super day celebrating Comic Relief.
World Book Day
Look at how the fantastic children in Hillary Class all dressed up for World Book Day. Excellent costumes and the children were so knowledgeable about their book character, we are so proud of the fantastic writing that they have produced.
Great Wall of China
This afternoon for our China topic the children learnt some fantastic facts about The Great Wall of China and used construction materials to build their own Great Walls.
Today in Hillary Class we looked at the traditional Chinese dress and painted and decorated some lovely Chinese dolls.
What a wonderful day the children had on Friday celebrating the China Day. We produced some super dragon art work, read some non fiction books about China and Chinese New Year, tried some Chinese food and performed a dragon dance in the hall too. A very big Thank you to Benny's Mummy for making such a superb dragon for us to dance with.
Wow! We are so impressed with the wonderful children in Hillary Class for their amazing Chinese dragon models, masks and art work they are superb and really enhance our topic. A very big thank you to all of the parents for your help and support.
Lovely Library visit
Hillary Class spent a super morning at Retford Library, listening to stories and sharing books. A huge thank you to Mrs Singh, Mrs Todd, Mrs Cook and Mr Weselby for helping to transport the children to and from the library.
The children in Hillary Class have had a fun morning exploring the frost and fog, they made frost angels and measured how far they could run before they couldn't see each other because of the fog!
Super Story characters
A huge thank you to all of the parents who sent in biscuits, models, cuddly toys and art work with the children for them to celebrate the launch day of National Story Telling Week. The children loved sharing their favourite story characters with the class and this led to some wonderful independent writing too.
Today in Hillary Class we looked at some pictures and video's of snowflakes. We described them and thought about how they would move, we then went and did some snowflake dancing and pretended to be swirling, sparkling snowflakes.
A special visitor
Today we had a wonderful surprise a guide dog for the blind came to visit us in assembly with her owner. We were able to ask questions and give her a stroke too.
Wonderful Winter Wednesday
What a fantastic day we had to celebrate the start of our Winter topic. We looked at ice melting and freezing and practiced our cutting skills to make a snowman. We also watched some videos of building a snowman and learnt a snowman song and dance.
A super party afternoon
This afternoon was our Christmas party, what a super time we had! Party games with our friends in Bannister, party food and a very special visitor. We are really on the count down for Christmas now.
Look at the wonderful nativity stars! We are so excited about our Nativity performances on Tuesday afternoon and Thursday evening thank you so much for your support with the wonderful costumes.
Christmas biscuit decorating
What a fantastic time the children in Hillary Class had decorating Christmas shortbread biscuits. A huge thank you to Kim and Rachel for giving up their own time to bake the biscuits and then to support the children with the decorations.
It is beginning to look a lot like Christmas in Hillary Class!
