Welcomefrown

Hello and a very big welcome to Hillary Class. We look forward to getting to know you and your child over the year as their learning begins. As the class teacher I will be available before and after school if you have any questions or queries. The other adults working in the class will be Mrs Morris who is our full time Teaching Assistant and Ms Cox who is also a TA will be working alongside us too. Every Thursday morning Mrs Burdell will be covering Hillary Class with the full support of Mrs Morris. Miss Weselby

Information!

We will very soon be giving all of the children in Hillary Class a reading book and reading diary, also a story book for you to share with your child at home. In Hillary Class we listen to the children read at least twice a week, therefore your child will need their reading books and reading diaries with them at school every day. Please ensure that you listen to your child read at least three times a week at home to ensure that your child becomes familiar with their reading books and becomes a confident reader.

The children will also need their PE kits with them all week, they will need to bring them to school on a Monday and take them home again on a Friday. Please ensure that all items of clothing are labelled as we can not take responsibility for lost property.

We also encourage children to drink water throughout the day, please feel free to send your child in with a water bottle and a pair of wellingtons too for our outdoor activities.

Thank you Miss Weselby

Animal visitors

Some very exciting visitors came to see Hillary Class today. Mrs Green brought her tortoise Pebbles and Tommy brought his guinea pig Molly in to visit us for our science lesson.

We are very excited in Hillary Class to be starting our new Autumn topic. We have a new autumn role play area and the classroom is decorated in pumpkins and all ready for the children to explore the season of autumn. This topic will provide the children with the opportunity to learn about seasonal changes and the differences between the seasons. We will also be learning about animals hibernating and reading Autumn stories, a really super topic to look forward too.

Topics

Myself and Mrs Morris are always very excited when we are planning  and thinking about our new topics. Please see our Curriculum Overview for 2016-2017 to see the yearly overview of topics. Our first topic in Hillary Class will be "Magical Me" this is a super first topic to support the children in getting to know each other, the classroom and the staff that work in Hillary Class, it provides a chance to discuss their families and likes and dislikes. It also allows us to celebrate the diversity of families and children within our class and to ensure each individual child feels part of the team in Hillary Class.

Happy Harvest

We have had a very busy couple of weeks in Hillary Class preparing and getting ready for our Harvest Festival. We have been busy learning our "Big Red Combine Harvester" song and in our RE lessons we have been learning about why celebrate Harvest Festival and how Harvest Festival is celebrated around the world. We have also been creating some Harvest beautiful art work for the Church and been exploring and investigating with our Harvest store role play area and our farm area too.

Autumn walk!

We have had a super time on our Autumn walk today. We splashed in very muddy and soggy puddles! We looked for lots of signs of Autumn and how the leaves are changing colour and the crops in the fields have been harvested. When we were on our walk we saw two trains pass the track and also a tractor drove right beside us and it had a dog in the back, it was all very exciting. Poppy and Jack even thought they had found a fairy home in a tree trunk.
